MoJ is monitoring claims farmers that text accident victims
The Ministry of Justice is investigating a number of firms sending unsolicited text messages to consumers promoting personal injury services, Insurance Times understands.
The MoJ is believed to have received a wealth of complaints over the growing number of organisations that target accident victims by promising thousands of pounds in compensation.
Some businesses are also believed to target consumers in an attempt to gain security information and bank details, known as a "phishing scam."
A Ministry of Justice spokesman said: "All authorised businesses are required to follow strict rules of conduct - including rules about the way in which they market their services.
"We will look into any complaints about businesses who may be in breach of the rules and take appropriate enforcement action if necessary.”
