Broker signs four-year contract

London-based start-up Aquilla Insurance Brokers has signed a four-year contract with Open GI to supply their core trading system and business intelligence tools.

Aquilla - whose launch by a former Bluefin property team was revealed last month by Insurance Times - specialises in the property owners market both in the UK and abroad.

Natasha Ward, broking director at Aquilla said: “We selected Open GI on the basis of system flexibility, competitive pricing and the business intelligence tools available to us. These are great benefits for start-up businesses, enabling us to get up and running with the core system straight away and develop a tailor made package as we establish ourselves.

"We are particularly impressed by the look and feel of the system, ease of use, support and training. InfoCentre has had a significant impact, as it gives us a real time picture of business performance.”

Simon Hughes, sales & marketing director at Open GI, said: “We delivered one new business contract per week in the last half of 2009 – many of which were start-up firms. For these firms it’s vital to have the right platform in place to drive growth. Aquilla understand the importance of investing in a system that’s sufficiently scalable to support increasing business volumes, having already placed £2m worth of business. We wish them every success and look forward to a long and promising partnership.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
