Zurich scoops chartered insurer status

Zurich is first composite UK general insurer to gain status

Zurich’s UK general insurance business has been granted Chartered Insurer status from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).

The status covers commercial broker, UK personal lines, Zurich Municipal, Global Corporate UK, as well as Zurich’s shared service functions.

Zurich UK general insurance chief executive Steve Lewis said: “Corporate Chartered Status is the gold standard in the insurance industry and is recognition of our expertise and professionalism.

“As the first composite insurer in the UK to achieve this across all general insurance operations, this puts Zurich in a unique position in the market and is further evidence of our professionalism and expertise.”

CII Group chief executive Dr Sandy Scott said: “Zurich’s decision to become a chartered insurer is hugely significant and shows that the industry is serious about building a profession that can enjoy public confidence.

“They are the first composite insurer to have their entire UK general insurance operation attain chartered status and I believe this commitment to standards of technical competency, ethical behaviour and ongoing learning will lead to better outcomes for customers.”
