Price

Ahead of the EU gender directive, which comes into play in December, car insurance premiums for women drivers climbed almost 1.1% during May on a month-by-month basis, according to the latest figures by price comparison website Tiger.co.uk.

Backtrack

Towergate has pulled out of the bidding for Cobra, according to an announcement on the London Stock Exchange. Cobra’s board revealed that talks were ongoing with Alto, which could lead to an offer for the company.

Restructure

RSA has announced a restructure of its global specialty business into three divisions. As of 1 June, all RSA regional specialty business will come under the Global Specialty Lines (GSL) division. GSL will now include: construction, engineering and renewable energy; marine; and risk managed business.

Bereavement

Chairman of Bradford-based insurance broker TL Dallas Group Colin Dallas has died at home after a long illness. Dallas was well respected in the business community, and he was well known for his high standards of professionalism and devotion to his clients.
