Homes unfinished and caravan dwelling continues

Two years and four months after the July 2007 Severn and Avon floods, at least half a dozen households are still waiting for repairs to their properties to be completed, the Sunday Times reports.

A number have only recently moved back into their homes, but can only use part of their property while refurbishment continues on the rest. At least one person is still living in a caravan in the grounds of her ruined cottage.

Several more are waiting for final building work.

Bureaucratic planning or insurance disputes are blamed for the delays.

Several examples of negative publicity for insurers are included.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
