Employees at jewellery claims specialist Loss Management Group were rather bemused by one of the first claims they were asked to handle in the new year.
"We were contacted by a lady who said she'd been burgled and had lost a 9ct gold charm, designed as a cylinder, containing a £20 note," explained Stephen Kopaloff, jewellery manager at Loss Management Group.
"Nothing particularly unusual about that, you might think, but she was claiming £12. Figure that one out."
