The ABI has slammed the government for not consulting insurers sufficiently when compiling the Higgs report.
Speaking at today's ABI conference, ABI director general Mary Francis said she was "surprised that the government thought it had given insurers enough input on Higgs."
Francis said: "The ABI was only asked by Higgs to comment on fatal flaws and small points of detail."
Francis was responding to comments made by the Secretary of State for Trade & Industry, Patricia Hewitt, who said Derek Higgs had "fully consulted" the insurance industry when compiling the report.
