Admiral has emerged victorious from a probe by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) after a consumer complained its poster headline was misleading. The strapline guaranteed customers their money back "if you find a cheaper quote within 14 days of receiving your documents". The complainant pointed out advertisers had a statutory obligation under the Financial Services (Distance Marketing) Regulations 2004 to refund customers if a contract was cancelled within 14 days. Admiral argued it knew this, but its aim was to advertise low prices in addition to the right to a refund. The ASA dropped the complaint.
