Ian Horwood has quit as chairman of Alarm - the national forum for risk management in the public sector.

Mr Horwood has decided to take up a post with the Risk Management Advisory Service of CIPFA - the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy.

Alarm will elect a new chairman on 7 October at a full council meeting.

Mr Horwood revealed that upon accepting the post, his membership status had made it impossible to remain as Alarm chairman.

He had served as a council member for five years and was appointed chairman in July.

Mr Horwood said: "Whilst delighted to be accepting my new appointment I am naturally disappointed that I will have to resign from Alarm council and as chair.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Alarm and look forward to a long association as an affiliate member, and forging even stronger links between Alarm and CIPFA."

Mr Horwood has written many of Alarm's publications
and provided support throughout his time with the organisation.
