Brokers at Aon had never been involved in steering business to generate larger commission payments, Aon chief executive Patrick Ryan said yesterday.
US reports said Ryan had directly challenged Eliot Spitzer on the issue at the centre of his investigation into bid rigging.
Ryan said Aon was “very comfortable with our past behaviour”.
The company has been subpoenaed by the New York attorney general's office over allegations of bid-rigging at Marsh.
According to reports, Ryan said the company had not been involved in steering clients toward a favoured insurance company so it could earn bigger commissions.
