The general election has helped to put London on a high risk terrorist alert, according to a study by Aon.

The terrorism risk map published by Aon ranks alongside Baghdad and Jerusalem for its "elevated" risk of a terrorist attack.

It is the second consecutive year that London has been placed on “high risk” by the broker.

Of the 200 areas surveyed by the risk map, 31 countries are more susceptible to terrorism than in 2003, the report said.

An Aon director reportedly said if a successful attack could be planned it would come “around the election.”
