Lloyd's insurer Atrium Underwriting has released its 1999 results and forecasts for the 2000 year of account. For 1999 it reported a loss of 5.6% of capacity.

Atrium said this was largely due to three of its syndicates having directors and officers and professional indemnity exposures.

It announced that its latest mid-point estimate for the 2000 year of account is a loss of 3.1% of capacity.

The group has updated its estimate of the net loss from the World Trade Centre attacks to £9.1m, up from £8.0m.

Atrium said that its managed syndicates continue to see improved rates, terms and conditions across all classes of business.
