Biba is to set up 'whistle-blower' hotlines in a move to combat stage-managed accidents.

Biba head of technical services Peter Staddon said the trade body had established a working party to raise awareness within the industry and support the ABI's anti-fraud committee.

Staddon said Biba would list names and contact details of the fraud managers of all major insurers on its website. Brokers could then contact Biba confidentially if they thought a client was submitting a fraudulent claim.

He said: "We need to send out an indication that as an industry we are against fraud and are serious about fighting it."
