The government is expected to announce that former ABI director general, Mark Boleat, will be given day-to-day responsibility for the regulation of claims-management companies, Insurance Times has learned.
The move will come as no surprise as Boleat advised the Department for Constitutional Affairs on the development of a regulatory regime for claims management companies.
A spokesman for the DCA declined to comment, saying only that an annoucement would be made "shortly".
It had been thought that the name of the regulator would be announced this afternoon, during the final reading of the Compensation Bill, when the government will outline further details of the regulatory framework for claims farmers.
The government is also expected to table a number of amendments, including a clause to overturn the controversial Barker mesothelioma ruling.
It is expected the Compensation Bill will get Royal Assent by the end of the week.
