Former Independent Insurance chief executive Michael Bright has appointed high-profile fraud laywers Burton Copeland to act for him during the Serious Fraud Office investigation into the company, The Times reports this morning.
Burton Copeland partner Robin Booth confirmed that Bright had retained the firm.
Booth and senior partner Ian Burton will represent Bright.
Burton Copeland has previously acted in high-profile fraud cases such as the defence of at least one Maxwell director.
Bright refused to comment to The Times on the appointment.
