The early intervention service will be available to all EL policyholders.

Brit Insurance has launched a Brit Absence Management and Rehabilitation service.

The service will be available, free of charge, to Employers’ Liability policyholders, from small businesses to FTSE 250 customers, whether that cover is stand-alone or part of a combined or package product.

Absence Management is a service that provides early intervention, becoming valid after an employee has been absent for more than three days. Through assessing injury or illness and consulting closely with the insured. If the employee is able to return to work within one month, the service will not appear on the policy’s claims experience unless there is a formal claim. Employees who are unable to return to work within a month will receive treatment through Brit Rehabilitation.

Brit Rehabilitation’s offering includes medical services, liability investigation and back-to-work planning for employees who are absent, or are likely to be absent, for more than one month.

Stephen Roberts, head of UK claims, said: “Brit Absence Management and Rehabilitation has been designed to bring peace of mind to insureds and their employees. Around 30 million days are lost in Britain each year due to work-related injury or illness, at an estimated cost of £30 billion to businesses[1]. By adding this product to our EL cover, we can protect and improve our customers’ productivity and help them maintain a loyal workforce.

“The service offers a unique way for employers to promote healthy employees while maintaining a healthy balance sheet.”
