Brit, one of the largest underwriters at Lloyd's, has upped its forecast for Syndicate 2987's 2002 year of account by one percentage point to a range of 10% to 15%.

Without an internal quota sharing arrangement, the range would have moved up to 13.5% to 18.5%. Last year, Brit owned almost 98% of 2987.

The listed insurer said for the first half of the current year gross written premiums were up 49% at £527m. The outlook for the rest of 2003 was reasonably bright.

"Trading conditions remain good across the majority of classes that Brit underwrites with the notable exception of the aviation account," the company said in a trading update.

Earlier this month, Brit said it would be exiting this line of business.
