Bupa Wellness has launched the Health at Work Service, to bring occupational health within the reach of small and medium sized businesses (SMEs).
The service aims to help companies comply with regulations regarding health at work, recruit people who are fit for the job, and reduce and manage sickness absence.
Dr Jenny Leeser, Bupa Wellness clinical director, said: "Smaller companies cannot afford large-scale on-site occupational health services, but they are subject to the same laws as bigger companies, and they are at risk of prosecution if they don't do anything at all to identify and reduce their workplace health risks.
"The Bupa Health at Work Service will help them to fulfil those requirements and reduce their sickness absence by consulting our occupational health professionals, asking job applicants to complete our pre-placement health questionnaire and referring frequent or long-term absence cases to us for assessment and management."
