A spot of confusion at the FSA over the title of David Strachan's lecture last week. First we had Contract Uncertainty. Then it was Contract Certainty: Deal now, Deal sooner? Finally they settled on Contract Certainty: Deal now, Detail sooner.

Interestingly, both Strachan and Bronek Masojada, who doubles as chief executive of Hiscox and president of the Insurance Institute of London, studiously avoided using the word 'uncertainty' during their addresses.

This example of doublethink leads Backchat to fear that the FSA is modelling itself on the Ministry of Truth in Orwell's 1984.
