The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) has said it is disappointed that the government has not taken "urgent action" on the employers' liability (EL) crisis.
A BCC statement said: "More consultation and report-writing is not going to keep these companies in business nor their employees in work."
In response to the government's proposals on the EL crisis, the BCC called for claims reform. It also repeated calls for the government to reconsider the imposition of insurance premium tax on employers' liability premiums.
The BCC statement said: "It should also provide support or tax relief for industry-wide schemes which will provide part-payment of compensation where firms have met all reasonable measures to mitigate risks to employees and where costs of claims are long after the event."
