Board game to examine risks launched for schoolkids

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) is using a board game, based on the CII's Discover Risk website, to encourage young people to consider career options within the insurance sector.

The programme was launched at Luton Sixth Form College with over 50 students taking part. The board game, which lasts around 90 minutes, gets students thinking about how the risk and insurance sector touches diverse areas of life.

Students play in teams and work through how to manage the risks associated with a variety of real-life scenarios that range from a chocolate company receiving a badly damaged product shipment to a singing super star's niece being abducted.

Work experience

The programme will be rolled out to schools throughout the country over the coming academic year. Students can also enter a competition linked to the programme and can win a work placement in the sector.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
