A team of adventurous firemen conquered Everest in their backyard, thanks to personal accident cover for Jardine Lloyd Thompson.
The feat, which took place in Liverpool City Centre, was performed on ladders that were climbed in rotation by 40 fire-fighters to approximately 30,000ft, the equivalent of the world's highest mountain.
Money raised in the event will be donated to the Roy Castle Foundation to aid research into lung cancer.
