Crawford is to launch forensic document analysis tools in a "couple of months."

The £30,000 counter fraud solutions Video Spectral Comparator (VSC) and Electrostatic Detection Apparatus (ESDA) is claimed to enable fraud investigators to assess fraudulent claims quickly and efficiently.

Crawford head of counter fraud Bobby Gracey said: "It's another tool in the bag that will be available in a couple of months. VSC will be able to interrogate documents using a high frequency of light.

"ESDA works by using carbon to throw up any indentions left on writing pad and claim forms, even though the evidence may have been removed."
