Crawford & Company is helping a city in Georgia to recover from one of its worst earthquakes in 40 years.

The company's Moscow and Central European offices are assessing the damage from the Tbilisi earthquake which registered 6.0 on the Richter scale when it struck on April 25. Six people were killed in the earthquake and 10,000 left homeless.

Spokesman Mark Harman said: "Crawford's strength lies in its ability to draw upon extensive global resources which is useful in situations like this.

"We are making contact with the local insurers so that all information can be gathered and the full extent of the damage ascertained, although clearly the first priority must be to enable people to return to their homes and workplaces as soon as possible."
