Insurers' stocks remained buoyant this morning, after disappointing US results sent the FTSE 100 into an early spiral.

The FTSE 100 opened 1.2% weaker at 4,082 and the FTSE Techmark slipped 0.7% to 636.5.

Intel spoiled this week's growth when its third-quarter earnings per share fell short of expectations. Several other US firms' results have further taken the gloss off this week's strong gains.

Several leading insurer stocks slipped this morning. Prudential dropped 4% to 448.5 points, and Aviva dropped to 481.5 points, a drop of 6.5%. Legal & General suffered a 2% drop, after falling to 108.5 points.

Royal & Sun Alliance was one of the few stocks to record a growth, with a healthy 7.5% gain to 114.2 points.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
