The Manchester Law Society Council has appointed Paul Ackroyd, a partner at Donns Solicitors, to head its moderate to serious personal injury cases department.

The department of 30 handles approximately 2000 cases at any one time. It deals with cases with values of up to £400,000.

Ackroyd is also the firm's representative within the Motor Accident Solicitors Society, an organisation set up to promote the interests of victims of car accidents.

He is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and, in May this year, successfully applied to become a member of the Law Society's Personal Injury Panel.
