There is a lot of sense in Michael Faulkner's article on uninsured driving (Comment, 26 May) and like him, I applaud the underlying message in Direct Line's new advert.

The whole concept is interesting, moving away from the traditional "It's a no claim bonus, not a no blame bonus" mentality.

I feel to some extent, however, that its message is lost on motorists, many of whom remain unaware of the workings of MIB, Article 75 and RTA [1988] generally.

It surprises me that insurers do not show the MIB levy and other uninsured driving costs on renewals and schedules. This is already done with insurance premium tax and would surely drive the message home.
