Drivers who average over 48 hours a week could face prosecution under a new road transport law, Allianz Cornhill Legal Protection said today.
The company is urging brokers to make customers aware of the provisions of the Road Transport (Working Time) Directive, which comes into force on 23 March.
Under the law employers will also be required to keep working time records for two years.
Phil Ruse, divisional manager of ACLP said: “Despite the fact that it comes into force in just over a week there is still a great deal of confusion about how the directive will impact this sector.”
