Travel assistance specialist, Europ Assistance (EA), has posted improved profits for its UK and Irish subsidiary.

The announcement came as EA's ultimate parent, Generalli, revealed its latest financial results.

The value of EA's overall total sales grew last year to over £70m, with profit generated from this business increasing to £4.8m.

Europ Assistance managing director, Paul Monks, predicted that Europ Assistance will total sales of up to £100m in 2003.

Europ Assistance managing director Paul Monks said: "Over the last five years Europ Assistance has pursued a focussed business strategy, not only to increase the value of sales but also to build five important product lines intended to give the company added breadth and stability.

"Despite difficult market conditions, we delivered an excellent result in 2002. With significant increase in new business and a diversification in our product portfolio, we are now well placed to ensure that the companies durability and viability is maintained in the coming years."
