Police officer falsely claimed for car given to local garage

Former Norfolk police officer Simon Hood, 43, has been jailed for 10 months for making a false insurance claim over his Audi TT car, the BBC reports.

Peter Marsh, 41, of Tillett Close, Ormsby, was given a six-month suspended jail sentence after the court heard he disposed of the car for Hood. He ran a local garage.

Judge Alasdair Darroch at Norwich Crown Court said Hood "let the force down. As a police officer you know the highest standards are demanded by the public and you let the force down.

He said to Marsh: "You misguidedly helped your friend."
