Marsh UK’s former chief Bruce Carnegie-Brown has resurfaced in the City, working for the venture capitalist 3i.
He begins his new role in January 2007, when he will oversee a new division targeting under-performing quoted companies across Europe and look to return them to profit.
Carnegie-Brown will be managing partner and will be joined by three other City heavyweights. They are: Stephen Hill, former chief executive of Betfair, the online betting exchange; Richard Segal, the former head of PartyGaming; and Alan MacKay, who is a senior 3i partner.
Carnegie-Brown left Marsh in June and since then rumours have circulated the market that he may return to the insurance world. 3i is a major stakeholder in many UK and European insurers and brokers.
The team will be paid on the improvement in value of the equities 3i invest in.
