Fraud in claims management has been known, though it must be quite a feat to get away with a million. A claims manager at one motor insurer did just that. He kept a motor claim running for nearly a year - and made the scam a family affair.

His mother, brother, girlfriend and members of her family were accident-prone that year when each of them hit the same car, writing it off in bigger and more spectacular ways.

He was finally caught when someone realised the coincidence was just too close for comfort - and when his bank account was raided it contained a cool £1m.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
