International ratings agency Fitch has affirmed it AA-minus rating on Dutch banking group ING, citing its strong domestic and European franchise and its "bancassurance" and international insurance operations.

The long-term outlook remains stable.

The agency said ING's geographical and business diversity was a key component of the group's overall strength.

ING reported an 8.4% rise in group operational profits for the first nine months of the year, thanks to a 25% increase in its insurance operations to €2.1bn (£1.3bn). Banking operations fell 12.5% to €1.2bn (£748.3m).
