The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) has declared 16 financial firms in default.

Declaring a firm in default opens the way for customers who have lost money, as a result of dealings with such a firm, to make a claim for compensation to FSCS. The limit for investment compensation is £48,000.

Four insurance affiliated firms have been listed. They are:

·The Insurance Centre Ltd, Northampton

·Brian Thompson, formerly trading as Brian Thompson Insurance Consultants, Newcastle

·Wemyssfield Insurance Brokers Ltd, Kirkcaldy, Scotland

·Bartlett Davies Bicks (financial) Ltd, formerly Bartlett Davies Bicks (Insurance Brokers) Ltd and Bartlett Davies Bicks, Torquay and Paignton, Devon
