Groupama in move to grow its private motorcycle portfolio

Groupama Insurances has expanded its Optima Bike policy to provide cover for provisional riders for the first time.

Groupama said the change has been made in response to "the changing dynamics of the motorbike market in the UK," such as an increasing demand for sub 125cc motorbikes.

Riders without a full bike licence will be accepted for new business effective dates from 1st March 2011.

Ian Pritchard, personal lines motor development underwriter at Groupama said: “There has been a real change in the structure of the motorcycle market in the UK and we want to help brokers capitalise on this by offering cover for provisional riders who are restricted to riding a bike of 125cc or lower."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
