ABI stats show insurers paid more critical illness claims
Association of British Insurers’ figures show insurers more than 90% of critical illness claims, the FT reports.
The ABI said its members (90% of the market) received just over 45,000 claims in 2008 with 3,100, or 7%, of those rejected.
About £184m worth of claims were turned down, or just under 10% of the total value.
The ABI will publish claims data every year. Consumer groups said a breakdown on individual company claims rates would have been more useful to consumers.
