AMP is expected to reveal plans to slash its 1000 strong sales staff at its troubled British operation Pearl Assurance.
The job cuts will form a key plank of its latest review to be unveiled on Wednesday. The review is expected the outline AMP's plan for its British operations.
The company's board is due to meet tomorrow to finalise details of the shake-up. The review will be chief executive Andrew Mohl's first major briefing since he took the helm in September.
Since taking over, Mohl has presided over several changes at the insurer in a bid to reverse declining earnings.
The latest job cuts are believed to be centred on the sales force at AMP's British life insurance business, Pearl Assurance, eroding almost the entire sales division.
The move would add to already extensive cost cutting throughout AMP. In June the insurer revealed it would cut 1500 jobs in Britain.
