PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), the liquidator appointed to oversee underwriting agency Tribune Risk and Insurance Services, said it had already found outstanding claims worth around £2m made on Tribune household policies.
Dan Schwarzmann, a provisional liquidator appointed by PWC, said he expected this amount to increase. "The figure of £2m is an approximate one. We've only been looking at the books for 48 hours and the amount could well rise."
He said holders of Tribune Diamond policies did not need to seek alternative cover as their policies had been placed with Brit.
Schwarzmann said it was too early to say what action would be taken next by the liquidator, but that Tribune had few assets against which its former customers could claim compensation.
