Position to further strengthen Lloyd's role in the country

Lloyd’s today announced that it has appointed a new General Representative in South Africa.

Litha Mveliso Nyhonyha, current Executive Chairman and Founder Member of Regiments Capital will support, enhance and promote the interests of Lloyd’s in South Africa, as well as work with businesses and the South African Government in the region. He takes on the role left by Ronnie Napier and will be working closely with Amit Khilosia, General Manager of Lloyd’s South Africa.

Richard Ward, Chief Executive of Lloyd’s, said: “I am pleased to welcome Litha to the team. His strong finance background in accounting, funds management and financial services will be essential in developing Lloyd’s in the region. His appointment will further strengthen Lloyd’s presence in South Africa, which is an important market for us. I am also grateful for the support that Ronnie has given Lloyd’s over the last 21 years.”

I am excited to be working for such a well-recognised brand as Lloyd’s at this important time in its global development.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Nyhonyha said: “I am excited to be working for such a well-recognised brand as Lloyd’s at this important time in its global development. The opportunity to represent Lloyd’s in the South African financial services sector is one that I am looking forward to hugely.”

Nyhonyha started his career with Ernst and Young, where he spent five years working with clients such as the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, advising on mergers and acquisitions, before moving into private companies.

His most recent roles include the Chief Executive Officer of NBC Holdings, an employee benefits consulting business, and Executive Chairman and Founder Member of Regiments Capital, a niche financial services company, a role he will continue while acting as Lloyd’s representative in South Africa.

Nyhonyha will be based in Johannesburg and will act as Lloyd’s General Representative, responsible for Lloyd’s compliance with the provisions of the Insurance Act, the provisions of the Lloyd’s South African Trust Funds, and submitting Lloyd’s regulatory returns.
