Berkshire Hathaway's Marlborough Underwriting has received approval from Lloyd's to write aviation, energy and marine business in a new Syndicate 1919.
The syndicate will be wholly capitalised by CV Starr (25%) and Starr International Investments Limited (75%). It will start underwriting on 1 October, subject to regulatory approval, with a capacity of £50m in 2007.
The active underwriter will be Chris Hancock, who was previously at Faraday.
