Lloyd's has outlined plans to help 8500 Names who are members of syndicates to close old years of account.

Lloyd's has named 13 syndicate years of account which it is assisting syndicates' managing agents to close.

With the help of leading reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter, Lloyd's announced it has obtained competitive quotes for reinsurance to close.

The syndicates are: 103; 1053; 718; 923; 947; 2923; 2947 spread across years 1993; 1994; 1996; 1997 and 1998.

In addition to the years names, Lloyd's confirmed it was progressing to closure of a "significant number" of the remaining 61 run-off years that have accumalated since 1993.

Chairman Sax Riley said: "This is good news for over 8000 of our members who want to end the uncertainty of long-standing liabilities.

He added: "Our reform proposals are all about clarity and transparency. Closing these years of account will give that to our members."
