Several Lloyd's underwriters have been ordered to pay $189m (£118m) by a Los Angeles Court, to cover a US insulation firm's future asbestos claims.
The verdict came after the judge ruled commercial general liability policies cover estimated damages for future claims for Fuller-Austin Insulation.
Fuller-Austin Insulation filed for bankruptcy in 1998 when it was unable to pay its asbestos liabilities. The jury found these liabilities would result in future claims totalling $750m (£466m).
Lloyd's underwriters and US insurers Stonewall Insurance, and Highlands Insurance have been ordered to pay the trust $189m (£118m).
