The Army major at the centre of cheating allegations on 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' has pleaded not guilty to five new charges of deception against two insurers.

Major Charles Ingram, 39, of Easterton, Wiltshire, had previously pleaded not guilty to two charges of gaining a pecuniary advantage by taking out two insurance policies by deception with Zurich Municipal and Direct Line.

The first of the new charges, which Ingram denied, was of obtaining a money transfer by deception to the sum of £1,300 from Zurich Municipal by giving false information about his claims history.

The second new charge was for a similar money transfer to a sum of £180 from Zurich Municipal between 18 March 1999 and 31 May 1999.

The third charge was for a similar money transfer of £215 from Zurich Municipal between 13 January 2000 and 30 April 2000.

The fourth new charge was that he obtained a watch from Zurich Municipal between 24 April and 30 June 2000. The final charge was for a money transfer of £30,000 dishonestly obtained from Direct Line Insurance on August 10, 2001.

The case was adjourned for trial to be held in the autumn and Ingram was released on unconditional bail.
