Reports that Marsh & McLennan (MMC) and the New York attorney general's office are at loggerheads over a settlement agreement has been met with denials on both sides.

A report on Friday said that Marsh had offered to settle the charges brought against it by Eliot Spitzer for $600m.

But that the attorney general's office was seeking $750m and a public apology.

Representatives of the two sides said neither had been interviewed for the story, a report said today.
