MMA will roll out a notification system that informs policyholders of the progress of their motor repairs.

MMA chief engineer Gary Brench said that the system, provided by claims tracking company ClaimWatch, had been in place at MMA for about a year, and was currently used by about 30% of its repairers. He said it would be rolled out across the company's entire repairer network by April 2004.

It enables repairers to notify policyholders directly, via SMS text message, email or through a website, about the progress of their motor repairs.

Brench said the system was adopted in response to customer requests to be kept more informed about the progress of repair work.

He said it enhanced the personal service provided by MMA's customer service team by providing information during, rather than just at the beginning and end of, the repair process.
