Illium, a subsidiary of HCC Insurance, which manages Illium Syndicate 4040 at Lloyd's has announced that Sebastian Hueskes, managing director and general manager of Munich Re UK General Branch, has joined its board of directors in a non-executive capacity.
The appointment is subject to regulatory approvals.
The appointment follows Illium entering into an agreement with Great Lakes Reinsurance UK, part of the Munich Re Group, in which Great Lakes UK will co-insure risks underwritten by Illium with effect from 1 January, 2006.
Under this arrangement, Great Lakes UK will provide approximately £30m of premium capacity as part of Illium's total of £85m for 2006.
This arrangement applies to all Illium's employers' liability and third party Liability business and also to the new commercial motor line of business, which Illium is underwriting for the 2006 year of account.
