The South West of England has seen the formation of a new regional personal injury network after 21 local solicitors decided to join forces.
The South West Accident Network (SWAN) has 50 branches across the southwest region, and is made up of firms with Law Society panel membership.
SWAN said it would guarantee that personal injury cases were only dealt with by solicitors based in the region, reducing the need for clients to travel.
SWAN director for the South Devon area, Barry Bayley, said the organisation would operate without sales teams or claims management executives. He said the organisation intended to rely on the ability of its solicitors.
Bayley said: "The personal injury sector has long had a mixed reputation, largely because businesses with little expertise have set out to make money from victims of personal injury by harvesting claims through aggressive sales teams, selling clients unnecessary insurance, and then passing them on to solicitors to handle the case."
