Fortis Insurance has joined the Endsleigh household panel.

The account is expected to be worth £1m by the end of 2002.

Fortis Insurance chief executive officer Barry Smith said: "Our consistent underwriting and commitment to maintaining high levels of service has led us to join the panel."

Delaware case
The House of Lords' historic tree root subsidence ruling in Delaware Mansions v

City of Westminster, which the council lost, was used for the first time in a case on 11 March.

The Delaware case concerned reasonableness between neighbours and reasonable notice of remedial expenditure.

LE Jones (Insurance Brokers) Ltd v Portsmouth City Council was the first subsidence case to arise post-Delaware.

Zurich dividend cut
Zurich Financial Services disappointed its shareholders this week by announcing a cut in its dividend after a net loss of $387m (£274m).

Zurich's board of directors proposed to reduce its dividend by CHF8 (£0.03) after it announced results that were affected by higher than expected losses from 11 September and asbestos claims.

However, total premium volume increased by 13% to $56bn (£36.9bn).

WinTAM for UK
Insure.com, the insurance business system provider and industry portal, has entered into an agreement with US-based Applied Systems to distribute WinTAM in the UK.

WinTAM is an agency manager for Windows. It is claimed to be a leading product in North America with more than 9,500 installed sites.

It provides client administration and management for commercial lines intermediaries.
