’With the number of potholes increasing exponentially, it’s more important than ever for owners to protect their commercial vehicles against the rising cost of damage,’ says managing director
Alps has extended its pothole add-on policy to include fleet, as well hire and reward vehicles.

Both policies are delivered in partnership with MB&G Insurance Services and Strategic Insurance Services and underwritten by Collinson.
Originally launched in April 2026, the pothole add-on policy has been extended as the value of a pothole claim now sits way above what many fleet and hire and reward operators assume when setting vehicle sums insured.
Michelle O’Reilly, managing director at Alps, said: “Our pothole add-on policy has been our fastest-selling product to date.
”Feedback from brokers is that it’s a true differentiator, helping them play their part in tackling the damage caused by the nationwide deterioration of our roads.
”With the number of potholes increasing exponentially, and reports suggesting that local authorities across England and Wales face a record £18.6bn repair backlog, it’s more important than ever for owners to protect their commercial vehicles against the rising cost of damage.”
Coverage
The fleet product starts from £15.66 per vehicle for a 300-vehicle fleet to £15.88 per vehicle for a five-car fleet.

The hire and reward extension includes privately owned vehicles used for commercial purposes including taxis, minicabs, limousines and vehicles used for many courier purposes.
The fleet and hire and reward vehicles cover includes £200 per tyre, £250 per wheel, £150 for wheel alignment, £500 for suspension damage and £250 for damage to bodywork, paint and headlights.
O’Reilly added: “Our product is not a static solution, but rather fast-evolving, valuable protection.
“With these two valuable add-on solutions, we’re once again demonstrating why Alps is the most innovative add-on MGA in the market today.”
