‘Expanding our casualty operations is a core part of our strategy this year for sound diversification,’ says global chief executive

Specialty (re)insurance MGA Rokstone has launched a new UK and Ireland casualty division, appointing Lewis Goodearl as its head.

The new division is backed by A rated Lloyd’s capacity and will focus on employers’ liability, public liability, contract works and property business.

Goodearl will lead the new arm, which comes following the launch of the MGA’s US casualty division in late 2024.

Ian Anson, global chief executive at Rokstone, said: “Expanding our casualty operations is a core part of our strategy this year for sound diversification, having already launched our US casualty division late last year.”

Appointee experience

Goodearl brings over 30 years of experience in the casualty insurance market, having previously held senior roles at Axa XL, XL Catlin, Liberty Mutual and ACE Europe.

He joins from Convex, where he was a senior underwriter for casualty over the past five years.

Anson said the company had known Goodearl for “many years” and praised his reputation in the market.

“Goodearl is incredibly well known and respected in the market and one of the most experienced casualty underwriters,” he added.

“We continue to bring market-leading talent to Rokstone and Goodearl is the latest in a number of stellar hires to Rokstone over the past few years who have been attracted by our exciting culture, market-leading technology and long-term committed capacity partners.”
